Provider Builds a Comprehensive Continuing Education Program for Financial Services Industry
During its new launch, a national testing and measurement company required a comprehensive program built for a client in order to evaluate, approve, and manage continuing education providers, courses, and instructors.
An organization within the finance industry contracted a nationally recognized testing and education assessment company to create and launch a new continuing education program targeted to support all 50 U.S. states and over 400,000 investment advisors. In addition to developing the program, a process and framework was needed to evaluate, approve, activate, audit, and manage continuing education providers, courses, and instructors.
Because the focus is investment advisory, understanding and staying current on both state and federal regulations is critical. With a prospective client base close to half a million professionals nationwide, a program based on industry standards and focused on attracting high-quality content and specialized expert CE providers was paramount to success.
Shawn quickly gathered all the requirements and developed the framework using an iterative process with the leadership team, the client’s CE committee, and external course providers.
This included developing the process and workflow for application, all the product requirements, checklists for evaluation, online forms, approval process and rubrics, non-compliance process, mediation process, audit process, data flow and document storage, writing various rules and policies, and ultimately a user guide for CE course providers.
The framework was implemented successfully and continues to be refined to accommodate new regulations and state needs.
- Initially deployed in three states, it has grown to 18 states in just two years.
- The program manages the approval and activation of over 50 industry recognized course providers, 40+ instructors, 500+ courses to deliver 700+ credit hours of continuing education.
- The initiative is currently serving approximately 140,000 participants.
